Future-Proof Your Vessel

Navigation light systems installed years ago were often never designed

to meet today’s operational, monitoring, and compliance expectations.

As vessels age, these systems increasingly become a source of uncertainty

— from unavailable spare parts and limited fault indication to increased

inspection findings and unplanned downtime.

The Lopolight Refit Program replaces legacy systems with a complete,

Class-approved LED navigation light solution combined with intelligent

control and monitoring. The solution is structured to support both efficient

installation on board and long-term system integrity after handover.

Imagine the peace of mind a lamp life of 100.000 hours and a 5 year warranty will give you.

THE REALITY OF AGING SYSTEMS

Across the global fleet, many vessels still operate with navigation light systems that are technically outdated and no longer supported by the original manufacturer. In practice, this often results in temporary fixes, extended troubleshooting, and uncertainty during inspections or audits, especially the control and monitoring systems are seen as a risk in this context.

For those responsible for upgrading and maintaining these systems, predictability during refit is critical. Lopolight systems are designed to remove common points of uncertainty by providing a clearly defined system structure and documented performance from installation through operation.

WHY LOPOLIGHT IS RIGHT FOR YOU!

With more than 300,000 navigation lights delivered worldwide, Lopolight solutions are developed specifically for professional marine installations where consistency and repeatability are essential.

From an installer’s perspective, factory-tested components and standardized interfaces reduce complexity during mounting, cabling, and commissioning.

Assisting the system integrator a approved system architecture and well-defined interfacing provide a stable platform for system design, documentation, and compliance.

“A navigation light is not a standalone component — it is part of a larger vessel system. Our responsibility in R&D is to ensure that the system behaves consistently, integrates cleanly, and provides the information needed during commissioning and throughout the vessel’s service life.”

M/Y SEALION

“During my tenure as Captain of Sealion, we had a full navigation light refit. We went with Lopolight; not only did the lights look good, but they had a much smaller, more modern profile. The operating computer touch screen was easy to use and displayed the functions and boat profile very nicely, with proper dimming for night navigation.

The Lopolight support network and aftermarket sales were easy to deal with and always responded promptly.

 I highly recommend Lopolight
to other vessels..”

SUBSEA RESPONDER II

“I recently attended technical training at Lopolight’s factory and was thoroughly impressed with their quality production line. The entire experience—from the training to interacting with the people and seeing the factory firsthand—was first class.

Each lighting system is pre-assembled and tested as a complete unit for twenty-four hours before shipping, which significantly reduces installation time. I appreciated that we could use the existing wiring, saving our customer money. Additionally, Lopolight provided transition plates, allowing us to reuse the existing mast without drilling any new holes to mount the lights.

Overall, both my customer and I were completely satisfied with the installation process and the finished results.

I highly recommend Lopolight for their exceptional products and service.”

RISK

Reducing Risk and Hidden Non-Compliance

Many vessels continue to operate with navigation light installations that were compliant when originally installed but are now approaching the end of their supported lifecycle. As equipment ages and regulatory expectations evolve, systems that appear to function normally may gradually introduce hidden operational and compliance risks.

Older installations often lack documentation, spare-part availability, and system transparency. In such cases, even minor component failures or undocumented modifications can lead to inspection findings, operational disruption, or the need for urgent corrective work.

Over time, environmental exposure and aging electronics may also reduce system reliability. Failures may occur without warning, and without monitoring or feedback from individual lights, faults can remain undetected until discovered during operation or inspection.

For operators and technical managers, these conditions can create increasing uncertainty around compliance, reliability, and long-term maintainability of the navigation light system.

Solution

A Refit Solution
Designed to Integrate

Stronger inspection and insurance positioning.

The Lopolight Refit Program is designed to integrate into existing electrical and bridge systems with minimal disruption. Flexible system architecture and pre-configured components allow refit projects to be executed efficiently, even where space, access, or legacy cabling present challenges.

Clear wiring principles and installation guidance support correct physical installation, while structured interfaces enable seamless integration into alarm, monitoring, or bridge systems.

The Lopolight Navigation Light Control (NLC) system enables individual monitoring of each navigation light, providing real-time status feedback and alarm handling.

For the integrator, this allows navigation lights to be treated as a monitored system rather than standalone components, supporting structured system design and compliance documentation. For the installer, it simplifies commissioning and fault verification by providing immediate confirmation of correct operation.

Adapting to Existing Mounting Footprints

To simplify refit installations, Lopolight offers a range of mounting plates designed to match the footprint of many legacy navigation lights. This allows installers to replace older units while reusing existing mounting holes and positions, reducing installation time and avoiding structural modifications.

Let us take you through the process

THE LOPOLIGHT REFIT SOLUTION

The Lopolight Refit Program provides a complete and future-ready replacement of legacy navigation light systems. The program combines proven LED navigation lights with advanced control and monitoring solutions, engineered to integrate seamlessly into existing vessels with minimal downtime.

Every refit begins with a technical and compliance assessment of the vessel’s current system. Based on this evaluation, Lopolight designs a tailored refit solution that ensures full compliance with international regulations while optimizing long-term reliability and operational transparency.

CONTROL & MONITORING

For vessels requiring full Class approval, the Lopolight Navigation Light Control (NLC) System provides individual monitoring of each navigation light, continuous status feedback, failure detection, and alarm integration into the vessel’s AMS and bridge systems. The modular architecture allows the system to scale from small vessels to large multi-deck platforms while maintaining full regulatory compliance.

- That you can depend on!

The ice-class functionality has been integrated from the early design phase; this gives a number of advantages that you can read about below. The ability to truly monitor the light, that the light can be thawed when in the ‘off’ position, only needing 1 cable for both light and heating and that we only use a fraction of the energy that our competition needs all comes together in a unique product. Did we say that there is no problem in mixing ice-class lights with regular Lopolight nav lights in a installation?
